Support H.R. 10298 – Public Service Loan Forgiveness Inclusion Act of 2026

To: Rep. Lee, Sen. Rosen, Sen. Cortez Masto

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

October 21

I am writing to urge your support for H.R. 10298, the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Inclusion Act of 2026. As a public service employee pursuing Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), I have been stuck in the SAVE forbearance through no fault of my own. I should have approximately one year of qualifying payments remaining, but the forbearance has left me nearly two years behind schedule. Meanwhile, my required monthly payments are now set to triple. Although the Department of Education offers a payment buyback process in theory, its significant processing delays mean borrowers may wait two years or longer for a decision. This leaves public servants in limbo, facing higher payments and prolonged uncertainty despite years of dedicated public service. H.R. 10298 would help correct this unfair situation by allowing affected borrowers to receive the qualifying credit they deserve without navigating the lengthy buyback process. I respectfully ask you to support this legislation and help public servants like me get back on track toward loan forgiveness.
