End Citizens United and stop billionaires from buying elections
To: Rep. Beyer
From: A constituent in Arlington, VA
November 18
I am writing to urge you to take action to address the harmful effects of the Citizens United decision on our democracy.
The unlimited flow of money into our political system is undermining the fundamental principle that all citizens should have an equal voice in our democracy. When billionaires and corporations can spend unlimited amounts to influence elections, it diminishes the power of ordinary voters like me to have our voices heard.
I respectfully ask you to:
1. Support legislation to increase transparency in political spending
2. Back a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United
3. Publicly commit to rejecting dark money in our political system
This issue matters deeply to me and many others in our district. We need representatives who will fight to restore balance to our democracy and ensure that the voices of regular constituents aren't drowned out by special interests and mega-donors.
I would appreciate knowing your position on this issue and what specific steps you plan to take to address it. Thank you for your consideration.
