Oppose losing your power to Russell Vought and Protect 2025 architects
To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Romney, Sen. Lee
From: A verified voter in Salt Lake City, UT
November 23
I strongly oppose Russell Vought's nomination as White House budget director and the goals of Project 2025. This conservative agenda seeks to dismantle vital protections for federal workers, strip agencies of their independence, and concentrate unprecedented power in the presidency. Such efforts undermine our democratic system of checks and balances and the principled operation of the government for the people's benefit, not the whims of a single leader. As public servants, federal employees must be able to execute their duties without undue political interference or being forced into partisan loyalty tests. Independent agencies play a crucial role in upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the public interest from unilateral executive overreach. Efforts to destroy these long-standing principles pose a grave threat to our democratic institutions. I urge you to reject Vought's nomination and oppose any measures that would erode the autonomy of federal agencies or workers. We must preserve the integrity of our government and civil service to maintain true self-governance by and for the people. Protecting these vital democratic guardrails should be a top priority.
