Please speak out forcefully against Trump’s authoritarian order to federalize the National Guard in Los Angeles. Congress must intervene! The federalized National Guard’s presence is intentionally escalating tensions. LA residents have a right to protest peacefully against ICE’s presence in their city, and the Governor of CA, and LAPD have said the Guard’s help is unasked for and unnecessary. Trump is trying to create a crisis to distract and deflect and it is putting life, civil liberties, and constitutional protections at risk. Finally, ICE agents must display identification, and come with signed judicial warrants. They need to stop acting like jackbooted thugs. They are law enforcement officers. They need to act like they are enforcing the law and not act like they are breaking it.
