I write to oppose the nomination of Doug Collins for Secretary of Veterans Affairs. While his political experience is notable, his lack of direct experience in veterans’ affairs and managing large government agencies raises serious concerns about his qualifications for this important role.
Collins' strong partisan ties, particularly his loyalty to President Trump, could undermine the independence of the Department of Veterans Affairs and hinder bipartisan cooperation. Veterans’ needs should transcend politics, but Collins' background suggests he may prioritize political allegiances over the well-being of those who have served our country.
We need a leader who can address the VA’s systemic inefficiencies and ensure timely care for veterans. I do not believe Doug Collins is the right person for this task.
I urge you to reconsider this nomination and choose a nominee with the experience, qualifications, and ability to lead the VA effectively.
