I am writing to express my profound opposition to House Bill 1136, Senate Bill 518, and House Bill 1501, each designed to dismantle stability and success in IPS and subsequently in the Indianapolis community. These bills will disenfranchise thousands of students. This legislation will force chaos and disrupt learning and school progress in low-income areas where many students are persons of color. These are not collaborative or cooperative solutions to better serve all students. This legislation will burden and harm the most vulnerable. We must do better, stronger schools make stronger communities.
