The proposed Human Life Protection Act would impose severe restrictions on reproductive healthcare in South Carolina. By prohibiting virtually all abortions with limited exceptions, it disregards the fundamental right of women to make personal medical decisions about their bodies and lives in consultation with their physicians. Such government overreach undermines personal liberty and inserts politics into what should be a private medical matter between a woman and her doctor. Rather than resorting to criminalization, the state should trust women and their healthcare providers to make these complex, personal choices according to their own circumstances, ethical views, and medical guidance. I urge you to reject this excessive legislation that compromises women's autonomy and wellbeing.
