As your constituent, I’d like you to support the Fourth Amendment is Not For Sale Act (HR 4639). It’s abundantly clear that ICE and other weaponized areas of our government will stop at nothing to obtain information they do not have the right to. Voter rolls, Social Security information, financial reports, and personal browsing information are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the type of sensitive data that is currently at risk. And when this information falls into the wrong hands, it can have deadly consequences for people in this country. Now we are seeing reports that ICE is requesting commercial surveillance data from ad tech companies. They want to use data that is 30-40% incorrect to try to hunt down immigrants, their friends, families, and allies in order to harass, kidnap, and assault them. The chaos and harm this would induce is astronomical. Not to mention this would be a blatant violation of the 1st and 4th amendments, accessed via a loophole. It is imperative that we stop Government entities from accessing this data without a warrant and reasonable cause. You must pass and support the Fourth Amendment is Not For Sale Act immediately. We to prevent this extremely unsafe effort in its tracks and prevent future recurrences.
