Trump Said It Was Illegal — Now He’s Doing It Anyway. Stop the Martial Law Power Grab. I’m writing to demand immediate Congressional action to stop Donald Trump’s illegal use of U.S. military forces against Americans. On Monday, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed that 700 Marines from 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment have been deployed to Los Angeles under the guise of “restoring order.” Northern Command verified the activation. This is martial law in everything but name. Trump himself said in 2020: “We have to go by the laws. We can’t move in the National Guard… We can’t call in the National Guard unless we’re requested by a governor.” Now he’s doing exactly that — unilaterally federalizing forces under Title 10 without invoking the Insurrection Act and without a request from Governor Newsom. This is a blatant violation of the Tenth Amendment and a manufactured crisis meant to provoke outrage and violence. He is using ICE and Marines to snatch people from jobs, schools, and courtrooms — targeting young, diverse, working-class neighborhoods. This is by design. He wants violent backlash to justify more militarization, more surveillance, and a full federal power grab. I’m calling on you to: • Investigate and block all unauthorized military deployments within U.S. borders. • Cut off funding for ICE and Title 10 troop operations conducted without state consent. • Enact laws preventing federal militarization of blue states and sanctuary cities. • Speak out now — while we still can. We are watching this regime test the limits of law and impunity. If you stay silent, you are complicit.
