Oppose punitive anti-sanctuary legislation stripping vital services

This proposed legislation, H.R. 32: the "No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act" or "Defund Our Communities Act", risks causing significant harm by cutting off critical federal funding for essential services like schools, hospitals, homeless shelters, and transportation in states designated as "sanctuary" jurisdictions. Such a sweeping denial of funds would severely undermine access to education, healthcare, shelter, and mobility for vulnerable populations, including legal residents and citizens. Rather than promoting public safety through cooperation, this punitive approach would breed mistrust and make communities less secure. I urge you to oppose this bill and instead pursue comprehensive immigration reform that upholds our values of human dignity, due process, and equal protection under the law. Stripping funding from localities protecting their residents is counterproductive and endangers the wellbeing of all. There are more constructive paths forward that address legitimate security concerns without sacrificing vital services or violating constitutional principles.
