From: A constituent in Asheville, NC

January 26

As your constituent in Asheville, North Carolina, I strongly object to the ongoing violations of constitutional rights by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and related federal agents, which now include the outright murders of American citizens exercising basic freedoms. These abuses threaten the right to life, due process, freedom of speech and assembly, security in our homes, and protection from unreasonable seizures — core pillars of the Fourth, Fifth, First, and Fourteenth Amendments. The fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother, on January 7 exemplifies this crisis: ICE agent Jonathan Ross fired three shots through her vehicle window during an immigration operation, despite video evidence showing her posed no imminent threat, ruling her death a homicide. Just weeks later, on January 24, Border Patrol agents killed Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse and VA employee, firing at least ten shots — including after he was pinned down — while he filmed their actions amid protests, contradicting DHS claims of self-defense. These incidents, captured on verified videos, reveal patterns of excessive force against citizens assembling peacefully and speaking out, without due process or warrants. Such actions erode public trust and invite chaos, not safety. I demand you support immediate congressional investigations into these killings, legislation curbing ICE’s unchecked powers (like warrantless raids and lethal force), and defunding abusive practices. Protect our rights — hold these agencies accountable now. Thank you for your urgent attention. I await your detailed response and planned actions.
