An Open Letter

To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis

From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC

March 10

You were elected to represent all Americans. You were elected to uphold your Oath to the Constitution and to follow the rule of law. You were elected to provide checks and balances on the executive branch. You were not elected to show blind and cowardly loyalty to one man and one man only. We are demanding that you do not allow Trump to bully you into passing the SAVE Act. The SAVE Act is voter suppression. It is a poll tax. And it goes against the very Constitution that you upheld an oath to follow. Voting is a right not a privilege. Americans have the right to free and fair elections. And that being said, do not allow Trump to send his secret police to polling sites on Election Day in order to intimidate us. We are not falling for the constant lies coming from the Trump administration and the Republicans claiming that immigrants have been voting, dead people have been voting, and that voting isn't secure. Also we all know that Trump lost the 2020 election fair and square. And if he truly believed that the Democrats somehow rigged that election, why would they not have rigged the 2024 election? Because the answer is simple. The 2020 election wasn't rigged. The Democrats did not cheat. Donald Trump lost. Instead, perhaps the Republicans should listen to what Americans want. Perhaps you should change from enacting policies that hurt us to enacting policies that help us and that keep us safe. Right now Americans are not getting the representation that we deserve. We have the right to free, safe, and fair election to make our voices and our wants known and heard. Vote against the SAVE Act. Do not allow Trump to intimidate us at polling sites with his secret police.
