The Trump administration’s seizure of election materials in Georgia and its forced acquisition of voting records tied to Arizona’s 2020 election are deeply alarming intrusions into state election administration. Federal agents confiscating ballots and voter data from states that have already certified and audited their results threatens the integrity, privacy, and independence of our electoral system. Elections in the United States are administered by the states—not weaponized by the federal government to relitigate settled outcomes. Congress must immediately investigate these actions, protect voter data, and reaffirm that no administration has the authority to intimidate election officials or undermine public confidence in democratic processes.
