Allow people to buy hot food with food stamps
To: Rep. Moore
From: A constituent in Clarksburg, WV
June 14
The Hot Foods Act of 2025 proposes to allow SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits to be used to purchase hot and prepared foods for immediate consumption. Currently, SNAP benefits cannot be used to buy hot ready-to-eat foods, which can be a barrier for those without access to cooking facilities. Expanding SNAP eligibility to include hot foods increases food access and accommodates the needs of homeless individuals, seniors, students, and others with limited cooking resources. This legislation aims to provide more flexibility and address the nutritional challenges faced by vulnerable populations relying on SNAP assistance. Therefore, I urge your support for this important step towards reducing food insecurity and promoting equitable access to nutritious meals.
