Oppose Book Bans and Protect School Libraries
To: Rep. Sherman
From: A constituent in North Hollywood, CA
April 3
I need you to oppose any legislation that restricts access to books in schools and public libraries. These bans are government censorship that undermines the freedom to read and learn.
Parents already have the right to guide their own children's reading. What we're seeing now goes further: organized efforts to remove books from shelves so no student can access them. This isn't about parental rights. It's about a small group deciding what everyone else's kids can read.
Librarians and educators are trained professionals who curate age-appropriate collections. They don't need politicians micromanaging their shelves. When lawmakers start pulling books, they set a dangerous precedent that any group can ban material they personally dislike.
I want you to vote against book ban legislation and support measures that keep these decisions in the hands of local educators and librarians, not state mandates. Protect the freedom to read.
