Increase federal cybersecurity spending.

To: Sen. Klobuchar, Rep. McCollum, Sen. Smith

From: A verified voter in Saint Paul, MN

July 7

I am writing to urge you to support increased federal investment in our nation's cybersecurity infrastructure. With cyberattacks on the rise — including a 2023 CISA report noting a 38% global increase in cyber incidents and major breaches affecting hospitals, water systems, and even local governments — it is clear that our digital defenses are falling behind. In particular, critical infrastructure like energy grids, transportation systems, and public health networks remain vulnerable to ransomware and state-sponsored threats. Strengthening cybersecurity isn't just a technology issue — it's a matter of national security, economic resilience, and public safety. I respectfully request that you advocate for robust funding to modernize outdated systems, support public-private collaboration, and expand workforce training in cybersecurity to ensure we are prepared for 21st-century threats.
