Protect Ohioans' Right to Protest!

To: Sen. Wilson, Gov. DeWine, Rep. Mathews

From: A constituent in Lebanon, OH

January 16

There are a lot of people who are worried and feel like the country is falling into complete darkness. Trump makes threats because he thinks the resistance is scared of him, but we aren’t. This administration sent ICE into Minneapolis to terrorize the community. They have murdered and shot people, used excessive force, and harmed innocent residents. The motto of this administration always seems to be the same “the beatings will continue until morale improves.” Yet somehow, he’s now claiming that “paid protesters” need to fall in line or he will invoke the Insurrection Act and “put an end to it.” He claims what’s happening in Minneapolis is an “insurrection,” while January 6th was treated as an unaccompanied tour. The goal is to control the narrative. He doesn’t want you to trust your own eyes he wants you to trust him instead. An end to what, exactly? More violence? More intimidation? More American citizens murdered by the state? Ohio NEEDS to protect its citizens. People must be allowed to exercise their right to protest peacefully, without intimidation or antagonizing from ICE. The people deserve to feel safe in their communities.
