Demand for Congressional Action Against Rep. Andy Ogles

To: Sen. Kaine, Sen. Warner, Rep. Subramanyam

From: A constituent in Lovettsville, VA

March 9

Rep. Andy Ogles must be expelled from Congress for his repeated, targeted hatred toward Muslim Americans. On March 9, 2026, Rep. Andy Ogles publicly declared that Muslims "don't belong in American society" and that "pluralism is a lie." This is not an isolated incident. Ogles has a documented history of dehumanizing rhetoric targeting Muslim Americans and Muslim immigrants — statements that have no place in a representative body that serves all Americans regardless of faith. The First Amendment protects free speech, but it does not shield a sitting member of Congress from accountability to his colleagues and constituents. The House has the constitutional authority under Article I, Section 5 to discipline or expel members whose conduct is unbecoming of their office. Statements that declare an entire religious community — millions of American citizens — as incompatible with our society meet that standard. I urge you to: 1. Call for a formal censure of Rep. Ogles at minimum. 2. Support expulsion proceedings if his conduct continues. 3. Publicly affirm that Muslim Americans are full and equal members of our society. Silence in the face of this rhetoric is complicity. I expect you to act.
