No more taxpayer dollars to the Ballroom.

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Rep. Mfume, Sen. Alsobrooks

From: A constituent in Pikesville, MD

June 30

No more taxpayer dollars to the Ballroom. Congress appropriated this money for Secret Service personnel, recruitment, training facilities, technology, programming, and bonuses. It was never presented to Congress as funding for White House ballroom construction. It seems clear that it’s been redirected to Trump’s preposterous renovations: First, Congress rejected a $1 billion request connected to the East Wing project. Then within days, OMB made more than $351 million from Secret Service accounts immediately available for White House security spending. They’re shuffling coconuts. Congress must subpoena records and testimony from the Office of Management and Budget, the White House, the Secret Service, the White House Military Office, and every contractor involved. Please work to freeze additional spending, restore the funds to their authorized purposes, and publish a full accounting of every taxpayer dollar spent or committed to this project. Please support a complete investigation into this abuse of public funds and congressional authority. Thanks!
