Say No to an Abortion Ban in the Affordable Care Act

To: Rep. Ciscomani

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

December 20

I'm reaching out about the effort to reinstate the soon-to-expire tax credits that keep health care affordable for more than 22 million people in this country through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). However, I am concerned about the demands of anti-abortion lawmakers to impose an abortion ban on ACA plans in exchange for extending the tax credits. As your constituent, I am urging you to reject any deal that restricts access to abortion. Already people are seeing that their monthly premiums will go up by hundreds of dollars starting in January. Yet instead of focusing on the impact this will have on the lives of millions, some politicians are cynically exploiting this moment to attack abortion care. We know health coverage through the ACA is essential to millions, especially important for people with low incomes, people of color, and young people - the same people who also faced increased barriers to accessing abortion care. This transparent attempt to sabotage our health care and take away our reproductive freedom is shameless and unforgivable. Please remain firm in your commitment to the safety and health of the people you serve by rejecting any vote that would effectively ban abortion coverage in the ACA.
