I am writing as a constituent to express my strong opposition to the SAVE America Act, which you recently co-sponsored as your first act in the Senate. Strict voter-ID requirements and limits on mail voting create unnecessary barriers for older voters, college students, and African American communities across South Carolina. You've said the American people are demanding this legislation. National polling shows otherwise: the country is roughly split on banning mail voting, a majority still support allowing any voter to vote by mail, and support for a ban comes overwhelmingly from a concentrated group of voters, not shared broadly across the state or country. Claims of widespread mail-voting fraud are also not supported by the evidence. Even the Heritage Foundation's own fraud database — built specifically to document fraud — has found only about 1,200 to 1,300 proven cases nationwide across several decades, against well over a billion ballots cast. Additionally, Americans have relied on absentee and mail voting since the Civil War with no evidence of any widespread voter fraud. I urge you to withdraw your support for this legislation.
