Trump snatched the dictator of Venezuela not to help the country establish a democracy but to steal their oil. In his first administration he called this oil “dirty tar” but now brags this is the “biggest oil deal ever”.
The term “deal” is relative when Venezuela had no choice in this matter with a gun to their head.
Further, the world has heard nothing about the evidence and upcoming trial of their dictator since our military forced a take over of the country. There has also been no plans presented on how we are helping build a free democracy.
The entire policy reflects US policy at the turn of the 20th century in South America which severely damaged our relations a in that part of the world.
So how does this behavior by the US make us look to the rest of the world? This is clearly a policy not about supporting a new democracy, it’s an oil grab. To no surprise Trump could care less what the rest of the world thinks. Unless of course we ever need help from our allies (IE: Iran War).
Where is Congress in overseeing these policies?
