Rescind the Turning Point USA Partnership Proclamation
To: Sen. Cook, Gov. Little
From: A constituent in Ammon, ID
April 11
Rescind your April 10, 2026 proclamation establishing a partnership between Idaho and Turning Point USA to bring Club America chapters into our high schools. This directly contradicts the principle of keeping partisan politics out of classrooms.
TPUSA is not a civics organization. It's a conservative political group with an explicit partisan agenda. Your proclamation gives state endorsement to one political ideology in public schools while claiming to support free speech. If students want to form political clubs on their own, that's their right. But the state should not be partnering with outside political organizations to recruit in our schools.
You've said the proclamation doesn't indicate your support, but that's not how parents and students will see it. When the Governor of Idaho signs a document praising an organization and encouraging students to join, that's a state endorsement. TPUSA Chief Field Officer Andrew Sypher spoke at the statehouse about this program. That's not neutral.
Idaho students deserve classrooms focused on education, not political recruitment. Withdraw this proclamation and end the state's partnership with TPUSA.
