I am writing to urge you in the strongest possible terms to oppose the SAVE Act. This bill is being presented as a safeguard, but to many Americans it looks far more like voter suppression dressed up as election security. It threatens to put new barriers between eligible citizens and the ballot box, burdening ordinary people who already have every right to participate in our democracy. At a time when public trust in government is already strained, we should be making it easier for lawful voters to be heard, not harder. I am deeply concerned that measures like this will disproportionately harm working people, seniors, women who have changed their names, rural residents, and others who may not have immediate access to the specific documentation the government chooses to demand. That is not a defense of democracy. That is an obstacle course. Just as troubling is the fact that Congress is spending time pushing legislation like this while there are far more urgent problems facing the country. Families are worried about affordability, healthcare, wages, housing, infrastructure, and national stability. The American people need serious leadership focused on real priorities, not performative legislation that risks disenfranchising lawful voters. Our democracy depends on broad participation, equal access, and the principle that every eligible citizen’s voice matters. The SAVE Act moves us in the wrong direction. It sends the message that suspicion is more important than representation, and exclusion is more acceptable than participation. I am asking you to reject this bill and to stand firmly on the side of voting rights, democratic access, and responsible governance. Please do not support the SAVE Act.
