Vote NO on any efforts to redraw SC maps!

To: Sen. Massey, Rep. Oremus

From: A verified voter in North Augusta, SC

May 22

Please vote NO on any efforts to redraw SC voting maps. Publicly commit to free and fair elections in our state, and take steps towards ending gerrymandering in SC. My concerns are as follows - *Redrawing maps this close to an election causes confusion with voters. *This is a partisan gerrymandering, not a redistricting made with the help of fresh census data, which is when redrawing maps should ideally happen. *Partisan gerrymandering disenfranchises voters and sows mistrust in the democratic process. *The proposed map would eliminate the only district that has a Black Representative, even though 25%-27% of SC's population is black. *With SC's troubled history with racism, this is a step back in the fight for equality for Black South Carolinians. *In a democracy, one eligable person should equal one vote. By "stacking and cracking" voting districts, SC can insure that the votes of 25% of our population have no power. This is unacceptable!
