Trump Continues to Hurt American Communities By Stripping FEMA Funds

To: Sen. Scott, Rep. Wilson, Sen. Graham Nordone

From: A verified voter in North Augusta, SC

August 18

After the Trump administration ended a $2.8 billion EPA grant program, many projects in American communities have stalled or collapsed, leaving them searching for new funding. Aside from losing funds for disaster relief, communities across the U.S., who were were promised federal funding to tackle infrastructure problems, are now dealing with issues ranging from raw sewage and air pollution to wildfire smoke and erosion. Cheryl Middleton, a resident of rural Lowndes County in the Black Belt region of Alabama, has gone almost three decades without a working sewer or septic system. Instead, a plastic pipe carries raw sewage from her home and empties it near her backyard. This is yet another unacceptable outcome of Trump re-routing federal tax dollars from initiatives that help Americans to padding the pockets of his friends, family, and billionaires. Congress appropriated these funds and Trump can not legally divert them. In addition, this is not how the American people want their hard earned money spent. Trump must by checked by Congress now!
