This is not an Orwellian state, get rid of Flock cameras.

To: Sen. Dozier, Gov. Ferguson, Rep. Rude, Rep. Klicker

From: A verified voter in West Richland, WA

June 18

I am writing as a concerned constituent from West Richland, to demand that you take immediate action to ban the widespread deployment of Flock Safety automated license plate recognition (ALPR) cameras and similar mass surveillance systems. These Flock cameras create a pervasive surveillance network that tracks the movements of every vehicle in their range, feeding data into centralized databases accessible to law enforcement and potentially other government agencies. This is an unconstitutional erosion of privacy rights for law-abiding Americans. The Fourth Amendment protects us from unreasonable searches and seizures, and constant, warrantless tracking of our daily movements qualifies as exactly that. Flock’s system turns public roads into a dragnet. It logs millions of innocent drivers without probable cause, creating digital dossiers on citizens who have done nothing wrong. This technology is being rolled out rapidly with little oversight, often funded by grants or partnerships that bypass proper legislative scrutiny. As a Democrat who claims to value civil liberties, you have a responsibility to push back against this kind of Big Brother expansion—especially when it disproportionately impacts everyday people in our communities. I expect you to: Co-sponsor or introduce legislation that prohibits federal funding for Flock cameras and similar ALPR systems. Support bills requiring warrants for any access to historical location data collected by these cameras. Publicly oppose the unchecked expansion of this surveillance infrastructure in our district and nationwide. Vague “privacy protections” or voluntary guidelines are not enough. These cameras need to be banned or severely restricted before they become a permanent fixture in every neighborhood. I will be watching your actions on this issue closely. If you continue to ignore the growing concerns of constituents who value freedom over convenience for law enforcement, it will be remembered at the ballot box. Americans are tired of being treated like suspects in their own country. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to your response outlining specific steps you will take. Sincerely,
