Protect Federally Funded Grants

To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis, Rep. Edwards

From: A constituent in Asheville, NC

February 10

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the executive overreach in the freezing of grants and funding, which has far-reaching consequences for critical programs that serve our communities. The unilateral decision to halt funding without legislative oversight undermines the constitutional separation of powers and disrupts essential services in Education, among other things. Congress, as the branch of government responsible for appropriations, must ensure that funding decisions are carried out as intended. When executive action bypasses legislative intent, it sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the stability and effectiveness of federally funded programs. These actions not only create uncertainty for organizations and local governments relying on federal funds but also impact citizens who depend on these resources. I urge you to take a stand against this executive overreach by advocating for measures that reaffirm Congressional authority over appropriations. Whether through legislative action, oversight hearings, or bipartisan efforts to prevent future funding freezes without proper checks, it is essential to uphold the balance of power and protect the integrity of the budgetary process. As your constituent, I respectfully request that you address this issue and work towards ensuring that future funding decisions follow the appropriate legislative process. I appreciate your service and look forward to your response on how you plan to address this critical matter. Thank you for your time and attention to this important issue.
