Stop the Weaponization of the DOJ: Do Not Advance Blanche Nomination on July 30
To: Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott
From: A verified voter in Bradenton, FL
July 27
As your constituent, I urge you to oppose the confirmation of Todd Blanche as Attorney General.
Mr. Blanche’s record is not merely troubling—it is dangerous to the integrity of the Justice Department and to the rule of law. You can find an Attorney General who will pursue priorities like mass deportation, using cartels and transnational gangs as an excuse to commit war crimes, push millions off of food stamps and Medicaid, quash DEI programs, promote global warming in the name of energy dominance, eliminate regulations like those that keep chemical plants safe and endangered species habitats intact, and all the rest of the MAGA agenda WITHOUT selecting someone who is willing to (1) purge career staff based on political loyalty, (2) negotiate settlement terms that include "Anti-Weaponization" slush fund that STILL has not been publicly disavowed, 3) forever exempt the Trump family and businesses from the IRS, and 4) has zero credibility when it come to the Epstein investigation.
If your job, as senator, is to 'call balls and strikes' as you see them, Mr. Blanche clearly has four strikes against him.
The Attorney General must protect the independence of the Department, uphold judicial and prosecutorial integrity, and ensure that outcomes do not depend on political loyalty or negotiated insulation for preferred individuals. Confirming Mr. Blanche would entrench a DOJ model where rule-of-law commitments are subordinated to political objectives and institutional accountability is non-existent.
For the sake of the Justice Department’s credibility, the protection of democratic norms, and to prevent the weaponization of federal power, you must oppose Mr. Blanche’s confirmation.
