Urgent Action Needed on Cabinet Picks: Protecting National Security
To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis, Rep. Adams
From: A constituent in Charlotte, NC
November 20
As a psychologist and engaged constituent, I am compelled to express my concerns about recent Cabinet nominations, particularly Matt Gaetz for a high-ranking legal role. Gaetz’s documented history, including the Senate Ethics Committee’s report, raises serious questions about his moral character and suitability for such an office. This position demands unimpeachable integrity, and a full vetting process, including a comprehensive review of the Ethics Committee’s findings, is essential to ensure he embodies the values and trust required to serve as the nation’s top attorney. Without this scrutiny, we risk undermining the very foundation of public trust in our legal system.
Equally concerning is the potential appointment of Tulsi Gabbard to a national intelligence role. Any nominee for such a sensitive position must undergo the highest levels of security clearance Given the risks she may pose to our relationships with allies and the safeguarding of classified information, this review is not just a formality but a necessity to protect national security and maintain the trust of our global partners.
Lastly, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s troubling stance on vaccines and critical medical research, alongside his opposition to the ACA, should not be overlooked. These positions risk undermining public health and access to care for millions of Americans, particularly those managing chronic and life-threatening conditions.
I urge you to advocate for rigorous vetting of all nominees, especially Gaetz and Gabbard, to ensure they meet the ethical and security standards required for these vital roles. Thank you for your attention to these urgent matters.
