Schedule F is a misguided attempt to politicize the federal civil service that will severely undermine government effectiveness and accountability. Converting thousands of career civil servants into at-will employees undermines their ability to provide frank advice and analysis without fear of reprisal from the administration. The proposed policy will lead to high turnover, loss of institutional knowledge, and diminished expertise across federal agencies. Rather than installing political loyalists, the administration should pursue incremental reforms to improve employee performance management and streamline termination processes as needed. Purging career experts in favor of partisan appointees is a drastic step that lacks public support and risks corrupting the federal government to serve the president's interests over those of the American people. This reckless executive overreach threatens to degrade the quality and impartiality of public service. Therefore, I urge you to oppose and work to prevent implementation of Schedule F. The civil service should remain insulated from undue political influence to preserve its role as an objective, competent institution serving all citizens. More reasonable approaches to modernizing human resources policies and fostering accountability should be pursued through the proper legislative process. Unchecked expansion of at-will employment authority represents a dangerous erosion of democratic norms.
