I call on you to uphold Congress's constitutional authority over the decision to go to war by supporting the No War Against Iran Act introduced by Senator Sanders. This critical legislation would prohibit federal funds from being used for any military action against Iran without explicit Congressional authorization, except for the limited case of self-defense as permitted by the War Powers Act.
The recent Israeli strikes against Iran risk escalating tensions and drawing the United States into another costly and destabilizing war in the Middle East region. As Senator Sanders emphasized, decisions about war and peace rest solely with the elected representatives of the people in Congress, not with the President or foreign leaders.
Engaging in yet another protracted conflict would lead to immense loss of life, massive spending of taxpayer dollars, and further turmoil in an already volatile region. Preventing an unauthorized war with Iran is crucial to upholding the Constitution, ensuring proper oversight, and avoiding the grave consequences of unrestrained military adventurism.
I urge you to support the No War Against Iran Act to reassert Congress's war powers authority and prevent the United States from being embroiled in another disastrous Middle East conflict without your explicit approval. The will of the people and the founding principles of our nation demand nothing less.
