Preserve quality education access for vulnerable students
To: Sen. Simpson, Rep. McLachlan
From: A constituent in Bayfield, CO
December 12
The Returning Education to Our States Act would undermine access to quality education, especially for students in higher poverty areas who rely heavily on federal resources. Abolishing the Department of Education eliminates the centralized agency overseeing critical special education services, leaving parents of students with disabilities without a dedicated federal advocate. Transitioning oversight of these programs to states risks compromising equitable educational opportunities for America's most vulnerable student populations due to inconsistent funding levels and weaker civil rights enforcement across state lines and for it.
