Demand Senator Bucco’s resignation! Double dipping is for ice cream, not office!

Anthony Bucco is a NJ state senator who has sponsored pro-ICE legislation here in our state. He also serves as township attorney for Roxbury Twp- the site of the proposed mega-detention center for DHS. It is his job to represent his district AND the town of Roxbury and ALL of their interests. Given his endorsement of ICE- an endorsement that Roxbury is fighting- he is not acting in good faith for either of his positions. I question what benefit there is for him. A kickback, perhaps? But I digress.
Clearly this is a conflict of interest.
As part of the Roxbury Twp council meeting last evening, Bucco was formally asked to render his resignation as counsel.
Other towns around the country have been able to fend off ICE facilities, but for some reason, our very blue state has not been able to do so. Considering that Roxbury is a very red town, and they are against this facility, one would have to question why the sale is still happening with no real countermeasures from the town.
There are many ways to fight this. We should be filing lawsuits based on ecological analyses that were not performed or submitted, and creating town ordinances that would make conversion or occupancy of the building impossible.
But for some reason the only thing the town council has done is "voice their strong opposition".
The worst part of it all was hearing town council proclaim that the voices of opposition are not coming from within the township- a statement that is most certainly false.
No one wants a concentration camp in their backyard. We need people in government who will actually fight for their constituents, not profess some fake outrage with no real action and then belittle them.
