No Budget Increase for Ice
To: Rep. Dexter
From: A constituent in Portland, OR
July 1
$167 BILLION to ICE is not immigration policy. It is infrastructure for a police state.
This budget proposal would turn ICE into the largest domestic enforcement agency in the country. Detention funding jumps from $3.4 billion to $12.4 billion. Deportation and transport explode from $750 million to $14.4 billion. An additional $8 billion goes toward hiring thousands of new agents.
This dwarfs increases to the FBI, DEA, and ATF. It reallocates public money from care to coercion. It is not about undocumented immigrants. It is about building a massive federal apparatus capable of targeting any group labeled undesirable.
Once that infrastructure exists, it will be used. Not just at the border. Not just for immigration.
This bill must be stopped completely. No amendments, no watered-down deals. It funds surveillance, disappearance, and domestic militarization.
