To Governor Braun and Members of the Indiana General Assembly,
A federal whistleblower lawsuit accuses several of Indiana’s largest hospital systems and Medicaid managed-care companies of defrauding our state Medicaid program of as much as $724 million.
The suit has been public since 2024.
The state has not intervened to recover a single dollar. That is unacceptable.
I am asking you to act.
Direct the Attorney General and the FSSA to formally intervene in this case and pursue full recovery of every improper payment.
The legislature should hold hearings and demand that intervention on the record.
Hoosiers funded these programs. When providers bill for readmissions, duplicate stays, and services that violate basic Medicaid rules, they are stealing from taxpayers and from the vulnerable people the program exists to serve.
This money is not abstract.
As much as $724 million would repair roads and highways across Indianapolis and the state without a single new tax, and it would help close our budget shortfall.
I do not want to hear about raising Hoosier taxes or handing new tax breaks to large landowners while nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars in alleged fraud sits uncollected.
Do not let relationships with hospital and insurance lobbyists decide this.
Recover the money.
That is the job.
Sincerely,
A Voting Constituent
