Protect AACPS Students and Staff from Politically Motivated Federal Targeting

July 27

Protect AACPS Students and Staff from Politically Motivated Federal Targeting Stand up for Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the students and staff being targeted by this administration's politically motivated federal probe. The Trump DOE and DOJ are threatening to strip federal funding from AACPS over its policy of treating a student's gender identity as confidential medical information — a policy rooted in student safety and dignity, not lawbreaking. AACPS itself stated on July 27, 2026 that it had not even received formal notice or documentation before the administration went straight to a press release. That is not law enforcement. That is a headline grab. Transgender students deserve to go to school without fear that sensitive personal information will be weaponized against them at home. School staff deserve to do their jobs without the threat of federal prosecution hanging over them. This probe is designed to intimidate districts into abandoning protections for some of the most vulnerable kids in our schools. Push back publicly, use every legislative tool available to shield AACPS from retaliatory funding cuts, and make clear that this kind of political targeting has a cost.
