Terminate the National Guard Bureau's $292 million contract with Placemakr and end the unnecessary mobilization of nearly 5,000 troops to Washington, D.C. This deployment exists to serve a political agenda, not a genuine security need, and taxpayers are now locked into a three-year corporate lodging deal running through June 2027 to sustain it. The numbers speak for themselves. Placemakr markets luxury apartment-hotel units at $1,800 to $2,800 per month in D.C.'s Navy Yard neighborhood, complete with smart TVs, weekly housekeeping, and gym access. The National Guard Bureau is calling this the largest interagency lodging acquisition in its history. That's not a readiness investment — that's a $292 million bill for a political deployment that should never have happened. I want to see hearings on how this contract was authorized through the GSA, who approved it, and what oversight existed. The troops themselves deserve better than being used as props, and constituents deserve answers on how this spending was justified.
