Pass ELON MUSK Act to prevent conflicts of interest

To: Sen. Tillis, Rep. Harris, Sen. Budd

From: A constituent in Waxhaw, NC

February 6, 2025

The federal government should prevent conflicts of interest and ensure taxpayer funds are properly allocated. No government employee with authority over spending decisions should have the opportunity for personal financial gain. Passing the ELON MUSK Act to prohibit federal contracts for special government employees would promote transparency and accountability, similar to existing bans for members of Congress and other federal workers. With billions in federal contracts already awarded to Elon Musk's businesses and his influence over sensitive Treasury Department information, there are legitimate concerns about the potential for abuse. Enacting safeguards like this legislation is vital to protect public resources and maintain integrity in government operations. Upholding ethical standards must be a top priority.
