I am writing to demand immediate and meaningful oversight of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and to insist that all agents operating on the ground fully comply with the laws, regulations, and constitutional limits that govern their authority. Law enforcement agencies derive legitimacy only from adherence to the rule of law. Reports of ICE agents disregarding due process, exceeding their authority, conducting operations without proper warrants, or failing to clearly identify themselves undermine public trust, endanger communities, and violate the very principles they are sworn to uphold. No agency is above the law. Immigration enforcement must be conducted lawfully, transparently, and with respect for constitutional rights—including protections against unlawful detention, improper searches, and use of force. Failure to enforce accountability encourages abuse and erodes faith in government institutions. As my elected representative, it is your responsibility to ensure robust oversight, clear operational standards, and real consequences for violations. This includes enforcing existing laws, strengthening reporting requirements, and ensuring independent investigations into misconduct. I expect you to take concrete action to ensure ICE agents follow the laws and rules they are obligated to obey. Silence or inaction is not acceptable.
