I’m writing to demand that you speak out against Donald Trump’s recent abuse of Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act to seize control of Washington, D.C.’s police and deploy the National Guard under false pretenses. I am your constituent in Alexandria but born in DC The people of D.C. pay federal taxes and serve in the military, and there are more D.C. residents than Vermont or Wyoming - but they have no voting representation in Congress! Trump’s actions highlight why Congress must act now. I urge you both to: Publicly denounce Trump’s abuse of emergency powers in D.C. Support and cosponsor H.R. 51 / S. 51 to grant D.C. statehood Protect the rights and self-governance of D.C. residents Spread the Word on Social Media Share broadly to help pressure Congress to act.
