Every American should understand the gravity of the conduct of Secretary Hegseth: Unilateral initiation and continuation of war, the taking of life without due process, the abandonment of protections for civilians, the suppression of free speech, the separation of powers and the constitutional authority of Congress. As a Vietnam-era veteran and your constituent, I urge you in the strongest possible terms to vote to allow Rep. Massie’s articles of Impeachment to go forward to a vote tomorrow. Your solemn vow to protect and defend the Constitution demand that you vote to impress upon the self-proclaimed Secretary of War that his days of waging preemptive, aggressive war are over. The current Secretary’s practice of extrajudicial killings, of playing policeman, prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner will be at an end, if the House votes to Impeach. This is not the time to follow the party line: it is time for you to do the bidding of the people you represent. Hegseth is a clear and present danger to our military and to our democracy. History will not be kind to those who fail to stand up against his crimes. Impeach now or live in disgrace from now on.
