Demand Immediate Withdrawal of ICE and Federal Agents from Minneapolis
To: Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee, Rep. Maloy
From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT
January 21
I am writing to demand the immediate withdrawal of ICE and Border Patrol agents from Minneapolis. The escalating violence and constitutional violations by federal agents in Minnesota have created a dangerous crisis that threatens American citizens and undermines public safety.
On January 7, ICE agents killed Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother and U.S. citizen. Since then, federal officers have conducted warrantless raids on homes, pulled over school buses, attacked teachers and students at a Minneapolis high school, and clashed with local law enforcement. In 2025 alone, ICE has killed 32 people, making it the agency's deadliest year in more than two decades. These are not the actions of law enforcement protecting communities. They are the actions of an agency operating without accountability or regard for American lives.
The situation has deteriorated to the point where Minneapolis residents have organized neighborhood watches to track ICE vehicles, the Minnesota National Guard has advised members to wear reflective vests instead of military uniforms to avoid being mistaken for federal agents by angry residents, and some citizens have begun openly carrying firearms for protection. Both Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey have advised ICE to leave the city. Instead of de-escalating, the Trump administration has placed 1,500 active-duty troops on standby for potential deployment to Minnesota and issued grand jury subpoenas to both officials.
Deploying military forces against American citizens on American soil violates the Posse Comitatus Act, as demonstrated by last summer's illegal deployment of 700 Marines to Los Angeles. This path leads to further violence against the very people you are sworn to protect.
I urge you to publicly call for the immediate withdrawal of ICE and Border Patrol from Minneapolis and oppose any military deployment to Minnesota. American citizens deserve safety from federal overreach, not occupation by federal agents who have proven themselves a lethal threat to our communities.
