Stop Greenlighting Environmentally Dangerous Projects Like This Without Doing The Proper Studies! I'm protesting the Stratos Project Change Application a54536 on grounds directly related to water quantity, water quality, water availability, and potential impairment of existing beneficial uses. The proposed diversion and use associated with a multi-gigawatt power facility which will likely adversely affect the quantity and availability of water supporting Salt Wells Spring Stream and the Locomotive Springs Wildlife Management Area, which have already experienced documented declines in flow and wetland function. I further request investigation into how the proposed project will negatively affect groundwater and surface water quality through the return of industrial cooling water, including chemically treated and thermally elevated inputs into the Great Salt Lake watershed. This seems imminently probable because it's already happened where other data centers are experiencing groundwater and aquifer contamination for households on wells. The State Engineer should require a complete and independently verified water budget, analysis of aquifer impacts, and evaluation of cumulative effects on existing water resources and beneficial uses before any approval is granted. Because these issues relate directly to water quantity, quality, availability, and potential impairment of existing uses, I request that the State Engineer conduct a full investigation and hold a hearing before making a decision on this application. The newly minted State bill that obstructs citizens abilities to protest environmentally damaging projects like this one shouldn't be allowed to interfere with our ability to stop bad industry decisions. Not Studying The Impacts Of Too Many Past Industries Killed Millions Either Through Environmental And Personal Poisoning. A Constituent Disgusted With The Way Republicans Are Throwing Away Democracy, And Returning The Country Back To An Age Of Racism & Poverty Of The Dark Ages.
