Protect Public Broadcasting, Foreign Aid Programs for Greater Good
To: Sen. Kaine, Sen. Warner
From: A constituent in Sterling, VA
July 16
The administration's proposed cuts to public broadcasting threaten vital services that communities across the country rely on. NPR and PBS provide essential emergency information, educational programming, and in-depth journalism that keeps citizens informed. Defunding these trusted sources would deprive many areas of reliable news coverage, turning them into news deserts. Furthermore, cutting funding to initiatives like the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief risks undoing years of progress in combating pandemics and saving millions of lives globally. These programs represent core American values and their absence would undermine our standing on the world stage. Instead of pursuing draconian cuts, we should be investing in public broadcasting and humanitarian efforts that uplift communities at home and abroad. I urge you to protect funding for NPR, PBS and foreign aid that serves the greater good.
