Vote YES on SB0458. Completion of an implicit bias and structural racism training program for healthcare providers is imperative for improved patient outcomes. Patient outcomes are critically important, and addressing implicit biases and structural racism within the healthcare system is essential to providing equitable, high-quality care. Comprehensive training on these issues can help healthcare providers become more aware of their own biases and the systemic barriers that perpetuate disparities. This increased understanding allows for more conscious, unbiased decision-making and more culturally competent care delivery. By requiring implicit bias and structural racism training for license renewal, we can work to dismantle discriminatory practices and ensure all patients receive fair, respectful treatment regardless of race, ethnicity, or background. This proactive measure has the potential to dramatically improve patient experiences and outcomes across diverse communities. For the wellbeing of all Marylanders, such training should be mandated to build a more just, inclusive healthcare landscape.
