Disappointed in Your Christian Witness
To: Rep. Webster
From: A verified voter in Orlando, FL
April 6
I had been writing your office almost daily for several months, but now it’s been a few weeks since I’ve written. It feels useless to write to your office because I rarely receive a reply. (I know you are receiving these emails and I will again say that I’ll use your regular website instead of the much-more-accessible Resist Bot when you start holding town halls with open questions.)
The last few Webster Wires your office has sent out have been incredibly disheartening. You’ve posted several times on Facebook about your support for war against Iran, but you’ve been strangely silent about the unconstitutional way the war was waged and about President Trump and SecDef Hegseth’s continued calls for and threats of war crimes. Are you not supportive of law and order anymore? The only way to be “better than” the Iranian regime is to have a moral compass — otherwise we’re just a set of terrorists on another side. Your rhetoric has become increasingly strong and I honestly cannot decide if you’re trying to convince yourself that unconditional support for President Trump is actually the noble and right thing to do, or if you’re just echoing talking points given to your office by the White House.
I challenge you to read President Trump’s Easter-Day Truth Social post the next time you are at your church. If you won’t, why not? My husband is deploying at the end of this year and you’ve given a green light to increasing violence with no clear political objectives. I expect you will provide my small kids and me with all the support we need if this increased violence and chaos causes my husband’s death.
