Renee Nicole Good, say her name!
To: Rep. Finstad
From: A constituent in Jackson, MN
January 8
Your failure to publicly acknowledge or mourn the death of Renee Nicole Good, a Minnesota woman killed on her own street, is deeply disturbing.
Ms. Good was shot and killed in front of her wife and neighbors during an ICE operation. The agent involved was not in danger. Ms. Good was not threatening anyone. She was not interfering. She was staying out of the way. Yet she was killed.
This was not a split-second act of self-defense. It was the death of a civilian in her own neighborhood, witnessed by her community, and it demands moral clarity from those entrusted with public office.
As a representative of Minnesota, your responsibility does not end with party loyalty or silence when law enforcement actions result in civilian deaths. Leadership requires acknowledging loss, valuing human life, and demanding accountability—especially when government power is involved.
Your silence speaks volumes. It suggests that some lives are not worth acknowledging, that some deaths do not merit grief or concern, and that political convenience outweighs basic human decency.
Minnesotans expect better. We expect our elected officials to stand up when something goes wrong, not look away. We expect compassion for grieving families and a commitment to transparency when lethal force is used against someone who posed no threat.
I urge you to publicly acknowledge the death of Renee Nicole Good, offer condolences to her family, and support a full, transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding her killing.
Anything less is a failure to represent the people of Minnesota and a failure to uphold the basic duty of leadership.
