This Is Not Reform — It’s Theft from a Veteran and Career Public Servant
I am a veteran of the United States Navy and a current federal employee with 24 years of civilian service—not even counting the five years I served on active duty. I’ve given nearly three decades of my life to this country, and I planned my future around the rules you gave me: serve honorably, earn a pension, and receive a modest supplement between retirement and Social Security.
Now, under the proposed bill, you want to eliminate that special retirement supplement for those of us retiring after 2027. That change alone would rob me and my family of at least $132,000 in income—money I earned, relied on, and counted on to support my family after retirement at age 57.
And let’s be honest: $132,000 is the low estimate. It doesn’t include cost-of-living adjustments. It doesn’t account for compound interest I would have earned had I been paid what I was promised. The real number is much higher—and the betrayal is incalculable.
You’re not just asking me to sacrifice. You’re stealing my future to pay for tax breaks and grifts for the ultra-wealthy.
This bill doesn’t touch the billions handed out in no-bid contracts. It doesn’t claw back Trump’s tax giveaways to billionaires. Instead, you’re going after veterans and civil servants—people who kept this country running, defended it in uniform, and did the hard work while politicians played games.
You weren’t elected to rob us. And I will not forget this vote.
I demand that you vote no on any provision that eliminates the FERS supplement for current employees. Breaking faith with those who served is not fiscal responsibility—it’s cowardice, and it’s corruption.
I served this country. It’s your turn to do the same.
