I'm deeply concerned about the budget cuts targeted at Education and Workforce spending over the next decade. This budget specifically mentions reforms to Public Service Loan Forgiveness, elimination of the SAVE repayment plan, cutting back borrower defense protections, capping Pell Grants, and eliminating Graduate and Parent PLUS loans.
I work as a teacher and ay still paying off my student loans. I would love to add another licensure in Reading or Special Education, but can't afford to. These are areas of great need right now in our country and having qualified teachers is critical to increasing student outcomes and reducing opportunity gaps. These programs are essential for people like me who have chosen careers serving our communities. We made financial decisions based on these promised benefits.I am asking my elected Congress members to : 1. Oppose cuts to student loan forgiveness programs in the reconciliation process
2. Protect Public Service Loan Forgiveness specifically
3. Ensure the Education and Workforce Committee preserves these critical programs
Thank you for your time and consideration.
